Hydropower in the next millenium

The International Centre for Hydropower (ICH) has the great pleasure in inviting you to the 4th International Conference on Hydropower Development; Hydropower´01.

Whereas the first conference, Hydropower´87 in Oslo, concentrated mainly on underground hydropower plants, the second conference in Lillehammer in 1992 had a wider scope, covering technical, environmental and economic issues. Hydropower´97 in Trondheim also covered safety and training, while Hydropower´01 will focus on private sector development, hydropower as environmentally sustainable power generation, recent trends in plant operation and innovative technology and design.

The venue for this event will be Bergen, a European City of Culture 2000, and the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway; one of the world´s most beautiful tourist attractions. ICH is looking forward to this gathering of hydropower experts from all over the world; from industry, consultancy, research and education as well as from the authorities, and will do our utmost to make the conference as fruitful as possible. In addition, the post-conference tour by coach and boat through the spectacular fjord landscape to Geiranger, the venue of the co-operating conference 5th ICOLD European Symposium, will further enhance your memories from the Land of the Midnight Sun.
